OUR STORY
WHO WE ARE
A multicultural, refugee-friendly place that serves all.
OUR MISSION
MUCC's mission is rooted in Utica's rich tradition of embracing immigrants and refugees, a legacy spanning over two centuries. While governmental support extends for just 90 days upon their arrival, many refugees grapple with persistent language barriers, economic hardship, trauma-related challenges, and cultural nuances long after resettlement. MUCC steps in to address these issues, offering extended support to empower refugees in accessing essential resources and integrating into their new home.
Our commitment goes beyond the initial 90-day period, creating a multicultural, refugee-friendly space that fosters safety, health, and educational opportunities for all. We're dedicated to promoting cross-cultural understanding and connection within our community, offering invaluable opportunities for our diverse neighbors to learn from one another and forge meaningful relationships.
Our Five Pillars
MUCC's mission is guided by five pillars: Youth Programming, Civic Engagement, Refugee Integration, Localization Initiatives, and Education. Through these pillars, we strive to not only welcome newcomers but also to nurture a vibrant, inclusive, and harmonious community where everyone can thrive. Learn more here.
